I'm always learning something. For instance, Alex, here's what I learned this past week:
1. Never try to drive to the Dole Plantation by yourself, lest you get lost!
2. Kind people will guide you back to the right place.
3. Belgian waffles lightly dusted with powdered sugar and topped with sliced fresh fruit can be DELICIOUS without much (or without ANY!) maple syrup!
4. A tour guide can throw people off the bus for talking while he's TRYING to give tourists a detailed history of the attack on Pearl Harbor and the old downtown area of Honolulu. Speaking of which. . .
5. You will shed tears at the Pearl Harbor memorial.
6. Authentic hot tea at a nice Chinese restaurant tastes better than that stuff with sugar in it.
7. The shoreline of Waikiki Beach has rocks on the bottom, so tread carefully!
8. Meeting different people from other parts of the globe is one of the best things about traveling.
9. Gazing at the Pacific Ocean under the full Hawaiian moon is to be enjoyed thoroughly.
I promise I have no clue what you are doing here, either. But it works 🤣
the “bring a towel” is also an etiquette in the “go nude” countries. But you won’t cover up ‘lil ol’ leatherman or long ball john with it. It’s simply for sitting on it!
Now I suggest you go visiting a finish sauna or Slavic banya. I am dying to read which life lessons they will make you tell 🤣
Exactly. And if you do it in a “go nude” country, where everyone is cramped together cheek to cheek in the sauna, it IS a whole new level of sauna experience 🤣
Well New World Porter has done it again with the 'Sauna Life Lesson', funny and insightful as per, as someone who spends a lot of time in saunas, I have never seen anyone get their dick out unfortunately, I am obviously going to the wrong saunas. It's a local pool so there is a rule of 'No nakedness'.
The sauna lessons were good ones, a great pep talk for the day ahead and a good reminder to know other people feel this way too.
who the heck made a world map of sauna culture - that's funny.
Well written and funny story - thank you for a hot insight. I love sauna, I love steambath more, and I have always just brought a towel, well in steambath nothing at all, as it will get wet in seconds.
at first, I didn’t know where you were going with this, but it ended up being a great piece 🤣🤣🤣 I don’t know if you get my drift with that. Thanks for the advice, ,not advice. It was awesome.❤️❤️❤️
Do you know how many times I've stopped and started reading this because the universe kept snatching it away?!?! 4, 4 fucking times lol it's like the universe didn't want me reading about wrinkly dicks 😂 but wonderful read!!! And so so true!!!
Haha for some reason the phrase, "wrinkly dicks" made me laugh more than it should I suspect that has something or everything to do with my maturity level.
I’m looking forward to your steam room edition. That’s my go to hot place and I have seen some weird things that I am sure you could arrange into an organized perspective!!
“Should I smile at it?” 🤣 I’m dead!
Always look forward to the pieces you write. This is what keeps me coming back to this platform. This piece is nothing short of brilliant!
It was a moral, ethical and legal dilemma, that's for sure!
I feel I made the right choice.

10. That I want to do this again.
And those are the lessons for now!
With you on the Pearl Harbour memorial. That place is incredible.
Hope the trip overall has been a great one!!!
It was!

Is the Slavic one where the whip you with branches? I could use a little more punishment and discipline in my life.
Exactly. And if you do it in a “go nude” country, where everyone is cramped together cheek to cheek in the sauna, it IS a whole new level of sauna experience 🤣
"Cheek to cheek in the sauna" haha - that is brilliant visual language.

Thanks again, lovely stuff!
I should have come to you for advice, as a sauna expert!
I'll know for next time, haha.
Wow, adds to resume, sauna expert ha ha
Definitely for some lessons from the sauna I go too, some about body image, chatting, keeping quiet and so much more, they are a good place to learn!

I'd like to think there are sauna fanatics out there creating all sorts of sauna-inspired content.
I hope never to run into these people, but I respect their craft.
You were reading my mind there. Like a damn map?!
Haha. Oh dear, I actually felt like I was in that sauna! I need a shower. Funny, Porter.
Skip the shower and jump in the pool instead, it's great for your health (according to my PDHPE teacher). And thank you, haha!

Is that the euphemism I suspect it is?! Outstanding.

Because it's hilariously accurate 😂
So I’m not the only one who is an insufferable “this could be a Final Destination death scene” spotter? Thank god.
P.S I enjoy your newsletter way more than Mark Mansons — I finally unsubscribed from his because I was never reading them. There’s something in that 😉
Oh, they're EVERYWHERE.
If there's a large truck transporting logs, I will NOT be behind it.
And that's SO BLOODY NICE OF YOU TO SAY. 🤩🤩🤩
EVERY TIME I SEE A LOG TRUCK!!! 😂😂😂
Why did you to have to use the "-gate" suffix? It's overused. "The Genitalia Incident" sounds better.
That sounds like a political thriller that I'd watch at the cinemas.
And this is what we've been waiting for!! 😂🎉
A week late but hopefully still good, haha.
I have the matching Patrick swim set. We would be passing out lessons left & right.
Thank you for today’s masterclass!! 🏆
Did you get yours on special too? I couldn't turn down the bargain. Can't stop, won't stop bargain hunting.
I’m looking forward to your steam room edition. That’s my go to hot place and I have seen some weird things that I am sure you could arrange into an organized perspective!!
Is a steam room better than a sauna? Are they the same thing?! I have many unanswered questions.
Fantastic advice! And, funny! I loved it.
Thanks for taking the time to check it out, Grace 😃 I really appreciate it!!!
